Chania bus services - for independent travellers looking to use local buses. There are plenty of local bus services and you shouldn't have any problem getting a bus except, perhaps, very late at night.
The bus schedule is set to meet the incoming flights, with frequent services throughout the day, at cost of €2.30 with travel time of 30 minutes. You can pay on the bus.
The bus will drop you at the Chania Bus Station, located at corner of Kidonias and Kelaidi Streets in in the centre of town, just off the 1866 Square. Here there are luggage storage facilities, a cafe and further information about all the regional buses.
To get to the old town from here, walk across 1866 Square and then down Chalidon Street, and you get to the beautiful old Venetian Harbour in less than ten minutes.
If you are going to the airport on the bus, the services are timed to get you there on time for departing flights, check the schedule with KTEL to be sure.
When you book with our car rental partners - Rental Centre Crete - you
are supporting a
local company with excellent service and an easy online booking
procedure. We are sure you will be well looked after by Harry and his
team. Easy pick-up from Chania Airport.
All central Chania hotels are nearby to this airport. The individuality of Pension Eva, which is located in the characteristic old town, may suit modern travellers looking for something charming. This is a small place with only five rooms.
Our pick would be the Doge Traditional Hotel for its central location, comfort and complete traditional authenticity. This hotel is close to the Venetian harbour and the picturesque lighthouse.
For a charming rural experience nearby to the airport, we would
recommend the Gardenia Garden House just 7 km from the airport, away from town, on the Acrotiri peninsula.
This 1 bedroom garden house, with a spectacular view on the edge of a quiet village, is only 2 km from the Mediterranean, with the beaches of Loutraki and Marathi a short drive away.
Your outdoor sitting room surrounded by olive groves gives plenty of privacy, yet offers sweeping views across Souda Bay to Apokoronas and the White Mountains. This house sleeps 4 with 1 bedroom, supplementary beds and 2 bathrooms. A sister bungalow next door Gardenia Guest House sleeps 2 more guests, which is perfect for an extended family gathering.
This accommodation is best visited with a car, you will be 15 km from Chania Old Town and in a good position to explore the west of Crete.
