Getting to Spinalonga by Bus

I will be in Agios Nikolaos on 20 Oct from 8am until 6pm. I would like to travel to Spinalonga.

From what I am reading, the bus to Plaka appears to only be available Wednesday. Is this true?

How long does it take by ferry to get from Agios Nikolaos to Spinalonga?

Yes, you can get to Spinalonga by bus on that date. The local buses run until the end of October.

From Heraklion, take the bus from Bus Station A, down by the port, to Agios Nikolaos. These buses run many times per day, roughly once per hour between 6.30 am and 10.30 pm and the cost is around €7. See info here:

To get from Ag. Nikolaos to Plaka, take the local KTEL bus - departures leave every two hours between 9 am and 7 pm. The duration is 40 mins. The buses leave Plaka to return to Agios Nikolaos at 9.30 am every two hours until 7.30 pm. Cost is less than €3 each way.

Did you also know that you can take a boat tour from Agios Nikolaos to Spinalonga and return, all on one day? These boat tours also run until the end of October.

Talk to Zoe and Panos at Zet Travel in Agios Nikolaos who have a daily boat trip. These trips leave daily at 12.30 and return at 5.00 pm or speak to Captain Manolis at Nostos Tours.

Spinalonga Windsurf, based in Plaka, also have boat trips to Spinalonga. Just email/speak to Angelos about your dates and I am sure you will be fine.

Of course, there are plenty of local boats from Plaka who can take you out to the island on that date in October. Just ask at the harbour.

Hi,

I will in Crete around the 25/26th October, and want to travel to Spinalonga from Agios Nikolaos or Elounda, but am being told the boats stop by this point in the month? Is that correct?
