Question & Answer - Crete Travel Q&A

2 Weeks Crete and Rhodes - a personalised itinerary for self-drive exploration of cultural sights. Many of our visitors ask us for travel tips and we are more than happy to help.

Letter Q for Question - Crete Q&A

My wife and I would like to visit Crete (and possibly Rhodes). We will be arriving from NYC. We have two weeks blocked out in November from 10 to 24. Can you help us with a possible itinerary? We will rent a car (automatic). We like cultural sites and local flavor. We understand beaches in November are probably not possible, thanks, David.

Letter A for Answer - Crete Q&A

Yiasas David, you have a good length of time available to see Crete and Rhodes - your suggested itinerary is below. The links will give you options of accommodation, should you wish to select something similar. We have selected stylish historic places in the Old Towns of Chania, Rethymno and Rhodes for their charm and character, and a central quality hotel in Heraklion for convenience.

November weather in Crete is mild with average night time temperatures around 12°C or 54°F and average day time temperatures 20°C or 68°F. Sea temperatures are also mild, with averages of 17-20°C or 63-68°F. I have definitely enjoyed swimming in Crete in November, but you must remember that many summer villages close down, because most of the tourists have departed by this time. It is great, it is quieter, but fewer options are open for drinks, coffee or meals.

November weather in Rhodes is also mild with average night time temperatures around 11°C or 52°F and average day time temperatures 20°C or 68°F. Sea temperatures are also mild, with averages of 20-22°C or 68-72°F. Rhodes old town will have plenty of shops and services, cafes, restaurants and museums open. Smaller beaches may be closed but Lindos will certainly be convenient to visit, and lovely cafes and restaurants will be open. I love Lindos and a visit there is highly recommended :)
