Ferries from Rhodes to Crete

by Ed Ford
(Cupertino,CA, USA)

Is there a direct ferry from Rhodes or Adana or another port in Turkey to Crete in Oct?

How much would it cost?

Getting from Turkey to Crete

Hi Ed,

From Adana you would need to make your way to Fethiye in Turkey, and take the ferry over to Rhodes. The ferry trip takes about an hour and a half.

Or you could make your way to Tasucu in Turkey and take a ferry to Kyrenia in Cyprus. In this way you could fly from Lanarca Airport LCA to Rhodes or Crete.

There are ferries from Rhodes to Crete, they stop at three islands on the way, the other option is to fly.

The ferry takes about 10-12 hours and would run at reduced timetable in October. The fare for a shared berth is around €50, there are cheaper and more expensive options.

The ferry timetables on the internet are notoriously difficult to find and are published late.

It is often best to phone the company that runs that route on their head office number. Most of these offices speak English.

Ferries leave Rhodos for Crete via Halki, Karpathos and Kasos.

There are options to travel from Rhodes to Crete (or Crete to Rhodes):

• Ferry with Lane Lines
• Ferry with Anek Lines
• Flight with Minoan Lines
• Flight with Olympic Airlines
• Flight via Athens with Aegean Airlines

See our page dedicated to Rhodes and travel to/from Crete

Ferries from Turkey to Crete - ferry services run from the mainland towns of Cesme, Bodrum, Marmaris, Datsa, Gokova, and Dalyan in Turkey to matching island ports in the Dodecanese, including Rhodos, in Greece. Companies on these routes include Anek Lines, Bodrum Express, Miniotis Lines.

Once in Rhodes, the other option is to fly to Crete which only takes one hour direct. Flying to Athens then Crete is achievable in a morning or an afternoon and is still preferable to the long ferry ride, unless you want to island hop along the way.

Karpathos Island is a very beautiful island, quiet and remote, great for a stop over on the way to Crete...

Kalo Taxidi! Bon Voyage! Katia
