Agia Marina Crete

Beautiful Beaches in North Crete

Agia Marina Crete

Agia Marina Crete is located 10 kms west of Chania Greece on the north-west coast of Kriti.

This sandy beach meets at the headland of Platanias beach, which is a long sandy beach to the west, with Agioi Theodori island opposite.

This is a happening place full of fun and activity, there are water sports of jet skiing, para gliding and wind surfing. On the beach are plenty of bars, pool bars, beach volley ball and beach tennis.

This stunning Crete beach can be reached easily by the local Crete bus, as it sits just a hop skip and a jump from the national road. It is also only 31 kms from the international airport at Chania.

Agia Marina Crete by Najots

The village has expanded and there are many, many rooms, hotels, apartments and resorts here. It is good for tavernas, bars and nightclubs, and an easy location for visiting the town of Chania. The beach can get a little crowded in summer. Popular clubs include De Stijl and Island.

A couple of streets inland from the beach you will find Horiatiko Taverna, run by Dimitris, serving good, traditional Cretan food.

Agia Marina Crete

Inland on a small hillside is the upper village Pano Agia Marina which has stayed more traditional and has some nice tavernas including 'Restaurant Manoli' (left).

Not far from here is Maleme with the cemetery for German soldiers from WWII, and a lovely beach.

Agia Marina would serve as a good base for visiting many of the interesting villages and beaches of Chania prefecture including a Theriso, Falasarna, and Elafonisi.

Accommodation

Anna Apartments are close to the beach, clean and nice self-catering apartments with a pool in a small cluster of only ten rooms, at a price that is good for the wallet.

Skala Apartments - again a small self-catering place that is simple, clean and close to the beach, with its own pool; good for the budget.
